Acuity is looking for a Veterinary Technician to support our contract in the Republic of the Marshall Islands. The Veterinary Technician would be responsible for the overall health of domestic and feral animals on the island.
This position is located in the Marshall Islands at a U.S. Department of Defense military base.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Examine animals to detect nature of diseases or injuries. Inoculate animals against various diseases such as rabies and distemper. Collect body tissue, feces, blood, urine, or other body fluids for examination and analysis. Operate diagnostic equipment such as radiographic and ultrasound equipment. Establish and conduct quarantine and testing procedures that prevent the spread of diseases to other animals or to humans, and that comply with applicable government regulations. Perform administrative duties such as scheduling appointments and maintaining business records. Inspect and test animals to detect the presence of communicable diseases. Plan and execute animal nutrition and reproduction programs. Inspect animal housing to determine cleanliness and adequacy. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Associate's degree in Veterinary Technology or a current Veterinary Technician Certificate from an accredited university. Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in private practice or the military. Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in working independently and decision-making in canine and feline medical emergencies. Minimum of two (2) years in maintaining canine and feline health records and canine and feline international health certificates. Experience with a microchip program that scans, reads and tracks canines and felines. Proficiency in the use of basic word processing programs. Must have a valid, current U.S. Driver's License. Must have a valid, current U.S. Passport, with no less than 6 months remaining before expiration. Shall be proficient in the ability to speak, write and communicate in English. Requires a favorably adjudicated CNACI investigation conducted by the Department of Defense. Must sign an International Assignment Agreement (IAA) and is bound to the terms and conditions of the IAA.
Physical Requirements and Work Conditions:
Must be confirmed by a medical examination to be "medically and dentally fit" in accordance with Acuity Medical Readiness Guidelines and Policies and/or as directed by the Client. Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time. Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment; travel to Kwajalein is required by air.
